As emerging media giants become greater, they gain more power over consumer's tastes. Enter Netflix, a company that is pulling out other studios' movies in an effort to produce most of its content, hence not paying distribution rights. The same happens with Spotify, who wants to shape its consumer's tastes to its interests.

Spotiwave draws attention to Spotify's fake artists. What's a fake artist? In its efforts to pay less royalties and rights, and thus have higher revenue, Spotify is creating fake artists, "artists" that create low-quality, poorly-composed, cheaply-produced music. They promote it by adding those artists to their most popular playlists, thus controlling what Spotify subscribers listen to, feeding their users cheap tracks.

Spotiwave criticizes those fake artists by mixing cheap-produced, easy-listening tunes with daring, adventurous elements. This is a concerned consumer's cry for better content, and for more recognition to the artists who create said content.
